Andrews Powder Coating, Inc. worked with the leading Prime military contractor in developing the first powder coatings certified for space flight. This arduous project took 3.5 years to attain space flight certification and allowed both companies to learn and benefit from the experience. That MIL-SPEC flight certification project was the basis for a new military satellite requirement for electrically insulative dielectric coatings used for power supplies. The work was done to the MIL-PRF-24712B specification with the space flight certification being the platform.
