The types of powder coatings are designated as follows:
Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (MIL-PRF-32348) is a type of coating commonly applied to military vehicles and equipment to provide protection against chemical, nuclear, and biological weapons. CARC is a non-absorbent material that prevents chemical agents from being absorbed into the coating.
In the event of a chemical, nuclear or biological attack it will be necessary to decontaminate vehicles and equipment. This is particularly important since agents can travel, or be transported, on surfaces of vehicles and equipment. Since the agents will not be absorbed by a CARC camouflaged vehicle, it is much easier to neutralize them by washing with a decontamination solution such as DS2.
As Certified Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) Applicators, we ensure rigorous protection for military and defense equipment, overseeing the process from material selection through final application and inspection. We are dedicated to delivering the highest level of comprehensive protection for your most vital assets.
MIL-SPEC coatings meet strict U.S. Department of Defense standards for durability and performance in military/aerospace use. They resist corrosion, withstand extreme conditions, and provide functions like camouflage or insulation, ensuring reliability and compatibility in high-stakes environments.
Andrews Powder Coating, Inc. specializes in applying Military Specification (MIL-SPEC) coatings designed to meet the extreme performance demands of the defense and aerospace industries.
All our MIL-SPEC coatings strictly meet and comply with the rigorous requirements set forth by Defense Contractors, the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards.
We provide a comprehensive range of pre-treatment and finishing processes vital for protecting critical assets, including:
Anodic Coatings for Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys. This specification covers the requirements for six (6) types and two (2) classes of electrolytically formed anodic coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys for non-architectural applications.
Chemical Conversion Coatings on Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys This specification covers the requirements for two (2) classes of chemical conversion coatings formed by the reaction of chemical conversion materials and the surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloys.
Aluminum Oxide Coatings, Lubricative, for Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys. This specification covers the requirements for and electrochemical process for building a Lubricative anodic coating on aluminum and aluminum alloys. The unsealed anodic coating is impregnated with PTFE of coated with a resin bonded material containing PTFE.
Passivation Treatments for Corrosion-Resistant Steel This specification covers the different types of passivation treatments as well as recommendations, guidance and precautions for cleaning and descaling corrosion- resistant parts, components, equipment and systems.
Chemical Conversion Coatings (CHEM FILM) on Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys This specification covers the requirements for two (2) classes of chemical conversion coatings formed by the reaction of chemical conversion materials and the surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloys. Coatings can be both gold or clear with no performance difference.
As electric aircraft development comes to fruition, there is a demand for electrically insulative coatings for battery layering components and transfer bus bars. Andrews Powder Coating, Inc. is currently in this space.
We can help your company to develop coatings that help your project succeed. While these electrically insulative coatings are the direct interest for engineers in the electric aeronautics industry, we can also assist your company with coatings for airframe and powerplant components.
Space-Flight Certified Coatings from Andrews Powder Coating are engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, radiation exposure, and vacuum conditions in outer space. They maintain adhesion, minimize outgassing, and protect components from corrosion, ensuring reliability and performance for satellites and aerospace systems.
